Riza Fudhlana Farming, which was visited by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali, has 9 units of coops which make use of a closed-system chicken coop, and can house between 20 to 23 thousand chickens in each rotation. The enterprise, which began operations in 2013, continues to grow and last year alone, managed to produce 750 metric tonnes of broiler chicken worth 7.9 million dollars.
Farms under agricultural development areas are always monitored by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism through the Agriculture and Agrifood Department to ensure that these areas are being used for production-based purposes according to the stipulated conditions. One of the monitoring being made is through the Good Animal Husbandry Practices, or GAHP.
Poultry farmers are encouraged to always adopt the GAHP and prioritise the animals' well-being as a way to ensure their health. To further boost the quality of farms towards increasing productivity, having good disease control and production of quality products, farmers are urged to incorporate the GAHP in the management of their livestock farms. Riza Fudhlana Farming plans to add 6 more coops this year, with each unit capable of housing 25 thousand chickens.
