KUCHING

Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof reminds contractors of Pan Borneo Highway work packages to adhere to the standard operating procedure (SOP) to guide and ensure safety of road users and minimise inconveniences.

The measures should include installing barriers and putting up sufficient reflective materials, blinkers, notices and other signage, he said.

Fadillah was asked on the project’s progress at the ‘leader with community and youth’ programme at Surau Al-Ansar Taman Yen Yen in Matang yesterday.

“The Pan Borneo Highway Project is ahead of time except for four work packages due to issues involving land. There are a total of 11 work packages and the rest are ahead of time. We are closely monitoring the progress but overall will be able to complete based on the time frame,” he said.

Aside from that, on the road upgrading works at Emart and the bridge connecting to Stapok in Batu Kawa, he said the bridge was ready and the contractor was now working on the drainage and road.

He added that the project was expected to be completed by the end of February and is currently at 90 per cent complete.

Speaking on the programme, he congratulated the Taman Yen Yen, Sri Matang and Taman Lee Ling Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) for coming together with Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Taman Yen Yen/Lee Ling/ Sri Perkasa/ Sri Matang sub-branch to organise the event.

He said it was a good way to foster ties between the four KRT and encouraged the programme to be held as often as possible.

The programme included tai-chi session, health screening, folk games, futsal, lucky draw and exhibition by National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).

Tupong assemblyman Fazzruddin Abdul Rahman was present at the event.
